YouTube Video Shot on Public Property, Not at Waste Management

WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTURBED BY ACTIONS OF THOSE IN THE VIDEO AND THOSE PROMOTING ITS USE

Kettleman City, CA, February 4, 2010 12:00pm PT — On February 4, in response to a recently circulated YouTube video that implies it was shot at Waste Management’s Kettleman Facility, Bob Henry, senior district manager for Waste Management made the following statement:

“The video taken in front of a Waste Management sign is on county property more than a quarter of a mile from the actual Kettleman Hills facility grounds. It was not shot at the waste treatment facility, which is guarded 24 hours a day, seven days a week and cordoned by a fence.

Individuals on this YouTube video are not Waste Management employees. It’s tragic that a topic this serious, affecting an entire community is being taken so lightly by those in the video, and those promoting its use.

The health and welfare of Kettleman City residents and surrounding community is of the utmost importance to Waste Management. Our more than 60 employees who work here every day are extremely proud of our operations, safety standards, protection of public health and level of care they provide at this highly regulated site.”
